Question #10

What single thing that you plan to do this year will
matter most in 10 years? In eternity?

Instruct my children in godliness.

This is one of my main reasons for homeschooling. Not to shield or protect them, but to have more than a few hours a day to teach them. I love that we get to use the Bible as a school book and learn together, because on my own, I do not feel "qualified" to teach them!

Amen to that. No matter what else I accomplish in life, it pales if my children don't grow to know and love the Lord.

I ditto your answer, with the exception that I don't feel called to homeschool my children. But instructing them in Godliness is the most important thing I can do in raising them, teaching them, and loving them.

My answer would be the same.

Isn't it true that the most important goal as a parent should be that our children know and love Jesus deeply? It seems like if that happens everything else will fall into place.

Practically speaking, right now for our family, we're going through a book of age-appropriate devotions for children together at breakfast and of course, bible stories at night before bed. And just trying to humbly live out our walk as christians before our girls and also trying to do lots of talking as moments present themselves during the day. It's such a work in progress and many days I feel so ill-equipped for the task at hand (especially on the really bad days), but I think that instructing our children in godliness is the most important task we are called to as parents, hands down.
